Several Reasons My Life Sorta Rocks Right Now
This time last week, I was walking around Barbados in the Caribbean, drinking a local beer and shopping for ridiculous shirts. Amanda and I spent a week on a cruise touring the Caribbean sea. We spent time in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Martin, Antigua, St. Lucia, and Barbados. And on one of those stops, I got to see one of my best friends (Justin) get married to a fantastic woman (Danielle). I...

Semi-Annual RobLife Update
It’s time for yet another exciting round of Things that Keep Rob Busy!
Brewing: It’s been a while since I’ve brewed, actually. The IPA that Grainy Busey contributed to was my last batch, and he’s ready to be bottled now. Part of the problem is I’m simply not consuming my beer fast enough to justify regular brewing. I have four beers on tap currently: a cream ale...

I’ve really been loving this song this week.
A Random Hobby Update
Running: I ran the Des Moines Half Marathon (13.1 miles, for those counting (and I was)) in 1:58:01, which was waaay better than I’d expected (9-minute miles, yay!). I also nearly passed out immediately after finishing, so the pace wasn’t as easy as I’m ~sure~ I made it appear. I ran with our friend Roxi as a partner. We’d only ever run together once before, but I think it worked out pretty...

Fly Over the Des Moines Half Marathon Race Course! →
I’ll be taking on this course on Sunday. It makes me tired just to run it virtually!
Update, now with more Kitten!
The interesting (to me) things in my life haven’t changed all that much, but their proportions probably have. Ergo, you get an update!
Chickens: The chickens are egg-producing MACHINES right now. In the month of September they laid us 71 eggs, which is an average of 2.36 eggs per day. So almost every hen laid an egg almost every day in September. And get this: we have had 3-egg days for the...

Eggs, Running, and Alcohol
My life must have settled into a routine: I don’t seem to have much to talk about other than eggs, running, and alcohol.
On the egg front, our ladies are doing very well these days. I’ve started tracking their egg production in a spreadsheet, which informs me that over the previous 7-day period (August 31 - September 6) the chickens gave us 17 eggs, including a total of three 3-egg...
